REFORMATION 500 Upcoming Events PDF Print E-mail

We have a number of vitally important Reformation events coming up:

31 October 2017, will mark the 500th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther nailing the 95 Theses on the church door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg.

1 January 2019, will mark the 200th anniversary of the launching of the Swiss Reformation by Ulrich Zwingli in Zurich with expositionary preaching line by line through the Gospel of Matthew.

18 April 2021, will mark the 500th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther's bold stand before the emperor at Worms: My conscience is captive to the Word of God. Here I stand. I can do no other!

By God's grace we intend to have a Global Church Council 17 23 October 2017, in Wittenberg, and other Reformation 500 events in Zurich in 2019 and in Worms, 2021.

These monumentally important markers serve as both inspiration and guidance to a bold plan to call the Church back to the Bible for Reformation and Revival.

Therefore, on Reformation Day, 31 October 2012, at Franschhoek, we launched a five-year plan to reform our Churches, a seven-year plan to reform our communities and a nine-year plan to reform our nations. Each of these, culminating at the Reformation 500 events in Wittenberg, Zurich and Worms.

You will see that the Coalition on Revival, of which we are part, has, with the help of some key Theologians, produced some important Foundational documents, which are available on the www.Reformation.net and www.ReformationSA.org websites. We also launched the Reform 500 website and a Reformation 500 Facebook page.

We pray that you will choose to join us in leading the way in calling our churches to Biblical Repentance and Reformation, applying the Lordship of Christ to all areas of life, and praying for spiritual Revival in our churches, communities and nations.

May the Lord continue to bless, guide and strengthen you.

Yours for Reformation and Revival

Dr. Peter Hammond

Director
